What can be done?

The diesel pest can be effectively treated with an additive such as Grotamar82. A biocide kills the undesirable microorganisms. Initially, the tank needs to be inspected at its inside. With the help of an inspection camera the internal of the tank can be viewed and also a sample of the fuel needs to be checked for an already active infestation. Should it become apparent that the tank is infested a thorough tank cleaning is necessary. Therefore the tank must be completely emptied, residue free cleaned and disinfected with Grotanol and then dried. It is recommended that the syphoned off fuel, after 1μ filtration and shock dosing is filled back to the tank. This saves costs for a new filling and the disposal of contaminated diesel. In endangered tanks, especially in tanks where diesel oil pest had already occurred, the preventive use of an appropriate additive is recommended.
